RCB Clinches First IPL Title Under Rajat Patidar's Captaincy

RCB's Historic Victory
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru has finally broken their trophy drought by securing their inaugural IPL title, led by captain Rajat Patidar in his debut season. In a thrilling final against Punjab Kings, RCB set a challenging target of 190 runs. Despite a strong start from PBKS, RCB made a remarkable comeback, ultimately winning the IPL 2025 championship.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma shared in the joy of RCB's first title win, expressing their emotions as the long wait of 18 years came to a close.

After the victory, Kohli expressed gratitude towards his family and the management, stating, “This win isn’t mine. It’s not just the team’s. It belongs to Bangalore. To every fan who waited 18 years. To every family member, every support staff, every person who stood by us. We are champions. And we did it — together.”

Kohli acknowledged Anushka's unwavering support throughout the years, saying, “It’s been 11 years for her as well, you know. Relentlessly coming to games, watching tough games, watching us just miss out.”

He further elaborated on the emotional toll of the sport, stating, “What your life partner does for you to be able to play, and the sacrifices, and the commitment, and just backing you through thick and thin, is something you can’t explain in words.”

Kohli concluded by highlighting Anushka's emotional journey, stating, “What Anushka has gone through emotionally, watching me, being down and out, her coming to games, being so connected with Bangalore, she’s a Bangalore girl as well, and being connected to RCB, this is very, very special for her as well.”
In a nail-biting finish, RCB secured the title by a mere 6 runs, thanks to outstanding performances from bowlers Krunal Pandya, Yash Dayal, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Despite Shashank Singh's valiant efforts in the final over, hitting Josh Hazlewood for six and four, it wasn't enough to clinch victory for PBKS.
