Premier League 2025/26 Fixture Schedule Announcement

Premier League Fixture Schedule Release
The Premier League will unveil its official fixture schedule for the 2025/26 season this Wednesday at 9 a.m. Despite the recent conclusion of the 2024-2025 season, all 20 participating clubs are eager to learn about their upcoming rivals and specific match dates. Liverpool emerged as the champions of the 2024-2025 season, finishing 10 points ahead of Arsenal, managed by Arne Slot. The relegation battle concluded with Southampton, Ipswich Town, and Leicester City facing demotion to the Championship.
Strict Regulations Governing Fixture Scheduling
The Premier League adheres to three stringent rules regarding match timings to ensure fairness and smooth operations. Firstly, within any five-match sequence, a team can have a maximum of three home games and two away games, or vice versa. Secondly, no club should begin or conclude with consecutive home or away matches. Lastly, during the festive period, clubs cannot host or play away for both Boxing Day and New Year’s matches. These regulations are designed to facilitate a fair experience for fans, law enforcement, and travel arrangements during the busy season.
The Process of Creating the Fixture List
The creation of the league's fixture list involves a six-month effort by an IT team from Atos, a French company. This team combines technology with human oversight to organize match breaks, other competition schedules, and minor league plans. Local police requirements are also crucial; for instance, Liverpool and Everton cannot have home games simultaneously. Once all parameters are established, clubs are placed into a random grid to form match sets, which are then manually reviewed and adjusted as necessary. Finally, a well-balanced schedule is produced and made available for public viewing.
