Karun Nair's Disappointing Return: A Duck and Rishabh Pant's Record-Breaking Century

Karun Nair's Unfortunate Dismissal

On Saturday, Karun Nair faced a heartbreaking moment as he was dismissed for a duck after returning to the game after eight years. Ben Stokes bowled a remarkable delivery that sent the right-handed batsman back to the pavilion. It was Ollie Pope who made the crucial catch, as Nair attempted to capitalize on a wider ball from Stokes, hoping to score his first run.

Unfortunately, Pope was positioned perfectly at short cover and executed a stunning catch while airborne. Nair was left in disbelief, his dreams shattered, as he made the long walk back to the dressing room.

England's Bowling Dominance

India found themselves in a precarious situation after losing two consecutive wickets. Shubman Gill was the first to go, scoring an impressive 147, followed by Nair's unfortunate dismissal. Ravindra Jadeja joined Rishabh Pant in the batting lineup, as Pant was in excellent form, aiming for his seventh Test century before being dismissed for 134 runs.

Rishabh Pant Sets New Records

Rishabh Pant made history on June 21 by surpassing Mahendra Singh Dhoni's record for the most centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper in Test cricket. While Dhoni scored six centuries in his 90 Test matches, Pant has now achieved seven centuries.

Additionally, Pant became the third player in cricket history to score three or more centuries against a specific team in that team's home country, all of which were against England. The 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman reached his century off 146 balls.
