Former Indian opener and cricket legend Virender Sehwag has unveiled his 'Team of the Tournament' for the recently finished IPL 2025 season. Collaborating with cricket analyst Manoj Tiwari, Sehwag revealed a lineup featuring the top performers from this year's tournament on Cricbing. Notably, Shreyas Iyer, who captained Punjab Kings to the finals, has been appointed as the captain of Sehwag's XI.
Opening Duo: Sai Sudharsan and Virat Kohli
Sehwag's selection of openers showcases a blend of youthful talent and seasoned experience. Sai Sudharsan, the leading run-scorer of the season, had an outstanding IPL, amassing 759 runs at an average of 54.21 and a strike rate of 156.17, which included a century and six half-centuries. He is joined by Virat Kohli, who was instrumental in RCB's first title victory, scoring 657 runs with an average of 54.75 and a strike rate of 144.71.

Nicholas Pooran (Lucknow Super Giants): 524 runs in 14 matches, averaging 43.67 with an impressive strike rate of 196.25.
Shreyas Iyer (Punjab Kings, Captain): Scored 604 runs in 17 matches, averaging 50.33 at a strike rate of 175.07.
Suryakumar Yadav (Mumbai Indians): Accumulated 717 runs in 16 games with an average of 65.18 and a strike rate of 167.91.
Heinrich Klaasen (Sunrisers Hyderabad): Contributed crucial innings, including a century against KKR, totaling 487 runs in 13 matches with a strike rate of 172.69.

Despite their impressive performances, Yashasvi Jaiswal (559 runs in 14 matches) and Shubman Gill (650 runs in 15 matches) were left out of Sehwag's XI. Both had remarkable seasons for Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans, respectively, but were overlooked in favor of players who made more significant contributions in critical matches.
