Tragic Helicopter Incident in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand Helicopter Crash: A helicopter that went missing in Gaurikund has been confirmed to have crashed, according to Uttarakhand's ADG Law and Order, Dr. V Murugeshan, on Sunday. The aircraft had six individuals on board, and unfortunately, all are presumed dead. Earlier reports indicated that the helicopter, which was traveling from Dehradun to Kedarnath, lost contact around 7:44 AM in Gaurikund. Dr. Murugeshan stated that the helicopter disappeared between Trijuginarayan and Gaurikund.


It is believed that the helicopter, which was transporting devotees to Kedarnath, crashed due to adverse weather conditions. The flight took off at 5 AM with six people, including the pilot. So far, five fatalities have been reported.


The Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) has issued a statement regarding the incident, confirming that rescue teams have been dispatched to the crash site.


"At approximately 5:20 AM, a helicopter traveling from Shri Kedarnath Dham to Guptkashi was reported to have crashed near Gaurikund. There were six passengers, including the pilot (five adults and one child). The passengers hailed from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. NDRF and SDRF teams have been sent to the location for rescue efforts," the statement read.



IG Garhwal Rajiv Swaroop commented, "The helicopter that crashed had taken off for Gaurikund after transporting devotees to Kedarnath. There were seven individuals on board. The accident occurred in a very remote area, and police along with SDRF teams have been dispatched to the site."



Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his sorrow over the tragic event and prayed for the safety of all passengers. He mentioned that SDRF, local authorities, and other rescue teams are actively involved in the relief operations.


"I have received very sad news about a helicopter crash in Rudraprayag district. SDRF, local administration, and other rescue teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations. I pray to Baba Kedar for the safety of all travelers," CM Dhami posted on X.
