Turkey Denies Involvement in Air India Boeing 787-8 Maintenance After Crash

Turkey Refutes Maintenance Allegations Following Air India Crash

Air India Crash: Following a recent report suggesting that the maintenance of the Boeing 787-8 aircraft was conducted by Turkish Technic, the Turkish government has dismissed these claims. The crash of an Air India passenger plane on Thursday, which resulted in 241 fatalities, has raised suspicions of a foreign conspiracy. The Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications Center for Countering Disinformation labeled these allegations as 'false' in a post shared on X.

The Turkish government characterized this as an attempt to sway public opinion regarding the relations between Türkiye and India.

In their statement, they asserted, 'The assertion that the maintenance of the Boeing 787-8 passenger aircraft was performed by Turkish Technic after the Air India aircraft crash during take-off is incorrect. This claim is disinformation aimed at influencing public perception about Türkiye-India relations.'

They further clarified that under agreements established between Air India and Turkish Technic in 2024 and 2025, maintenance services are exclusively for B777-type wide-body aircraft. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner involved in the incident does not fall under this agreement.

'To date, Turkish Technic has not serviced any Air India aircraft of this type. While we know which company conducted the last maintenance on the crashed aircraft, we cannot comment further to prevent additional speculation,' the statement continued.

While denying any involvement in the aircraft's maintenance, the center for Countering Disinformation expressed their heartfelt condolences to the Indian people over this tragic incident.

DGCA Implements Enhanced Scrutiny for Boeing 787 Fleet

In related news, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced on Saturday that it would extend its scrutiny of the Boeing Dreamliner 787 series aircraft within the Indian fleet.

During a press conference, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu stated, 'We maintain very stringent safety standards in our country... Following the incident, we recognized the necessity for enhanced surveillance of the Boeing 787 Series. The DGCA has issued an order for this extended surveillance. Currently, there are 34 such aircraft in our Indian fleet, and I believe 8 have already been inspected. We will ensure that the remaining inspections are conducted urgently.'
