Shillong Police Secures Transit Remand for Three Accused in Murder Case

Transit Remand Granted for Investigation
On Monday, the Shillong Police successfully obtained a seven-day transit remand for three suspects involved in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case from a Madhya Pradesh court.
Accused to be Taken to Shillong
The suspects, identified as Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Raj Singh Kushwaha, will now be transported to Shillong for further investigation.
Fourth Suspect to Appear in Court
According to Additional DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya, the suspects were presented before the CJM Judge, and the Shillong police secured a seven-day transit remand. The fourth suspect, Anand, is currently being brought to Indore from Sagar, Bina (Madhya Pradesh), and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday. All four suspects will be taken to Shillong by the police.
Details of the Murder Case
Raja Raghuvanshi was reportedly murdered during a honeymoon trip in Meghalaya, allegedly by contract killers hired by his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi.
Post-Mortem Findings
Following the arrest of the four suspects in this case, Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor, the Chief of the Meghalaya Special Investigation Team (SIT), revealed that the post-mortem report indicated Raja Raghuvanshi suffered two head injuries. Kharkongor stated, 'The post-mortem confirmed two head injuries caused by a sharp cutting weapon.'
Sonam Raghuvanshi's Location
Sonam Raghuvanshi, the widow of Raja Raghuvanshi, was located near a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur main road, as reported by a senior official from the Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday. Previously, the Meghalaya Police had visited the Sakhi-One Stop Centre in Ghazipur, where Sonam was being held, before taking her to the District Hospital for a medical examination.
Police Presence at Sonam's Residence
In addition, the Madhya Pradesh Police have stationed personnel outside Sonam's home in Indore to ensure security.
