This figure has more than doubled since then, rising from ₹35 crore in 2019. The affidavit accompanying his nomination papers reveals that the Thiruvananthapuram MP possesses movable assets worth over ₹49 crore, which include substantial investments in bonds, debentures, mutual funds, and other securities. He has deposits in 19 bank accounts and owns 534 grams of gold valued at around ₹32 lakh, along with ₹36,000 in cash. For the financial year 2022–23, Tharoor declared an income of ₹4.32 crore.

Tharoor's immovable assets are valued at over ₹6.75 crore, which includes 10.47 acres of land he acquired in Thiruvananthapuram worth ₹6.20 crore and land in Palakkad valued at ₹1.56 lakh, comprising a one-fourth share of inherited agricultural property. His residential property in the capital is estimated to be worth approximately ₹52 lakh. Additionally, Tharoor owns two vehicles: a Maruti Ciaz and a Maruti XLX.

During the 2024 general elections, Shashi Tharoor disclosed mutual fund investments totaling ₹1.72 crore, showcasing a well-diversified portfolio. As of March 31, 2024, he held investments in around 23 different mutual fund schemes, indicating a strategic approach to risk management and return optimization. Tharoor's investments include five schemes from Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund, along with holdings in various funds from HDFC Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Axis Mutual Fund, Mirae Asset Mutual Fund, SBI Mutual Fund, UTI Mutual Fund, Edelweiss Mutual Fund, Kotak Mutual Fund, and Quant Mutual Fund.

Among his international investments, Tharoor has allocated funds to the Edelweiss MSCI India Domestic & World Health Care 45 Index Fund and the Edelweiss US Technology Equity Fund of Funds.
