Shashi Tharoor Criticizes Colombia's Sympathy Towards Pakistan After Terror Attack

India's Firm Stance Against Terrorism
In a recent statement from Bogota, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor reaffirmed India's unwavering position against terrorism, emphasizing that the Pahalgam terror attack would not go unpunished. He highlighted that India initiated strikes on terrorist infrastructure as part of Operation Sindoor.
Tharoor addressed the media, stating, "India faced a severe terrorist attack on April 22. While the global community condemned the incident, no substantial action followed, not even from Pakistan, the origin of the attackers. No arrests were made, and there was no prosecution. India resolved that such acts of terror must be met with a response, leading to strikes on May 7 against identified terror bases and launch pads."
Exposing Pakistan's Role
Tharoor presented evidence of Pakistani Army officials attending the funerals of terrorists following India's military actions. He asserted that Pakistan offers a sanctuary for terrorists to undergo training.
"A well-publicized funeral for one of the terrorists on the sanctions list was attended by senior military and police officials from Pakistan. This illustrates the complicity between the terrorists and those who support them with resources and training," he remarked.
Disappointment with Colombian Government
Tharoor expressed his discontent with the Colombian government's reaction, which extended condolences for the loss of lives in Pakistan instead of supporting the victims of the Pahalgam attack.
"We were somewhat disappointed by the Colombian government's response, which seemed to prioritize condolences for Pakistan over sympathy for terrorism victims," he noted.
Clarifying India's Position
Leading a multiparty delegation to Colombia, Tharoor emphasized that India is merely exercising its right to self-defense.
"We must clarify to our Colombian friends that there is no equivalence between those who send terrorists and those who oppose them. We are defending ourselves, and we are prepared to discuss the details of the situation. We possess concrete evidence, including claims made by a group called The Resistance Front, linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan, immediately following the attack," he stated.
Delegation Details
The delegation led by Shashi Tharoor includes representatives from various parties, such as Shambhavi Chaudhary (Lok Janshakti Party), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), and members from the BJP and Shiv Sena, among others.
