Introduction of e-Aadhaar Authentication

On Wednesday, Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Railway Minister, revealed that the Railways will soon adopt e-Aadhaar authentication for the booking of Tatkal tickets.

In a post on X, he stated, “Bharatiya Railways will soon start using e-Aadhaar authentication to book Tatkal tickets. This will assist genuine users in securing confirmed tickets when needed.”

This initiative comes in response to a viral post by Dr. A. Velumani, founder of Thyrocare, who shared an image on X claiming that the IRCTC website becomes unresponsive at 10 a.m. even when seats are available. He expressed his shock, stating, “If this is true, it is a betrayal.”

He further elaborated on X, mentioning that Thyrocare faced similar server load issues but managed to resolve them by staggering bookings. He suggested that if the IRCTC is experiencing server problems, they should allow only a fraction of train bookings each hour to optimize server performance.
