Historic Launch of Vande Bharat Train Service
In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revolutionizing travel for residents of Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the highly awaited Vande Bharat train service. This new route links the scenic region of Kashmir with Kanyakumari, marking a significant milestone that has been a century in the making.
The inaugural trip began from Srinagar to Katra, and the completion of the railway line indicates that soon, travelers will enjoy seamless connectivity from Kashmir to the southernmost point of India. In a matter of weeks, this advanced train will enable direct journeys for individuals from the Valley to Kanyakumari, enhancing the accessibility of long-distance travel.
Onboard the first Vande Bharat train, young women, girls, and boys from the Kashmir Valley shared their enthusiasm and happiness. One young traveler expressed, “It’s a dream come true for us. This train will not only simplify our travel to other regions of the country but will also create new avenues for education and job opportunities.”
The journey is set to be an exhilarating adventure, as the train will pass through some of India's most breathtaking landscapes, including the world's highest railway bridge and stunning tunnels. The Manager of Indian Railways, who was present on the train, remarked, “Today represents the culmination of years of dedicated effort. The Prime Minister is dedicating this cutting-edge train to the nation, marking a historic day for Jammu and Kashmir.”
