Pahalgam Terror Attack: In a major development regarding the tragic Pahalgam attack, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended two individuals on Sunday, June 22, 2025, for providing shelter and assistance to the three terrorists responsible for the deaths of 26 tourists. The arrested locals, identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar from Batkore and Bashir Ahmad Jothar from Hill Park, played a crucial role in revealing the identities of the armed assailants. The NIA confirmed that these terrorists were Pakistani nationals linked to the notorious Islamic Salafist militant organization, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Reports indicate that Parvaiz and Bashir deliberately sheltered the armed terrorists in a seasonal hut at Hill Park prior to the attack. The NIA stated that they provided food, accommodation, and logistical support to the attackers on the tragic day when they targeted the tourists based on their religious identity. In response to this heinous act, India initiated 'Operation Sindoor' to retaliate against one of the most brutal terrorist incidents in recent history.

The two locals from Kashmir have been charged under Section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. The NIA is continuing its investigation into case RC-02/2025/NIA/JMU, which was registered following the attack that shocked the nation on April 22.
