Mohammad Haris Leads Pakistan to T20I Series Sweep Against Bangladesh

Haris Shines in Lahore

In a remarkable display of batting, Mohammad Haris scored an impressive unbeaten 107 runs off just 46 balls, guiding Pakistan to a commanding seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the final match of their T20I series. This win secured a clean sweep for Pakistan, finishing the series 3-0.

Pakistan's Chase Begins

Chasing a challenging target of 197 runs at Gaddafi Stadium, Pakistan faced an early setback with the loss of Sahibzada Farhan. However, Haris, alongside emerging talent Saim Ayub, who contributed 45 runs off 29 balls, turned the match around with a stunning partnership of 92 runs in just 53 balls. The duo took full advantage of a batting-friendly pitch, described as a 'concrete slab' by former international cricketer Aamir Sohail.

Haris's Record-Breaking Performance

Coming in at number three, Haris reached his first T20I half-century in just 25 balls and completed his century in 44 balls, narrowly missing the record for the fastest T20I hundred by a Pakistani by one ball. His innings featured eight fours and seven sixes, marking the first T20I century by a Pakistani opener or non-opener.

Match Overview

Earlier, Bangladesh opted to bat first and started strong with a 110-run opening partnership between Tanzid Hasan, who scored 42 off 28 balls, and Parvez Hossain Emon, who made 66 off 36 balls. Despite their promising start, the team could not maintain the momentum, with key players like Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy failing to convert their starts into big scores. Shadab Khan's dismissal of Parvez slowed their innings, and despite some late resistance, Bangladesh finished with 196 for 6, which proved insufficient against Pakistan's batting prowess.

Haris's Accolades

Following his outstanding performance, Haris was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Series, amassing 179 runs across the three matches at an impressive strike rate. His exceptional display capped off a successful series for Pakistan, while Bangladesh will need to reflect on their missed chances and improve their bowling and fielding for future contests.
