Sonam was captured early on Monday at a roadside eatery in Uttar Pradesh. All five suspects were presented before a district court on Monday and Tuesday, after which they were placed in transit custody.
On Tuesday, Meghalaya's Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong revealed that some suspects have admitted their roles in the crime. Authorities are planning to transfer all five individuals to Shillong either later tonight or by tomorrow.
Sonam Raghuvanshi, aged 24, has been identified as the principal suspect in this case. She was found near a roadside dhaba along the Varanasi-Ghazipur route on Monday. After her arrest, she received initial medical attention at Sadar Hospital before being moved to the Sakhi One Stop Centre.
In response to the incident, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed profound sorrow over the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, a newlywed from Indore, who was reportedly killed during his honeymoon in Meghalaya.
