In a significant operation targeting anti-social and anti-national activities, the Kishtwar Police have detained two individuals under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) due to their ongoing involvement in actions detrimental to public order and national security.

SSP Kishtwar, Naresh Singh-JKPS, shared that one of the suspects, Rustam Ali Bagwan, son of Fateh Mohd Bagwan, residing in Hunjala, Kishtwar, has been recognized as an active Over Ground Worker (OGW). He was reportedly providing logistical support and maintaining connections with terrorist groups in the area, which posed a significant risk to the security and integrity of the Union Territory. Following credible intelligence, the Kishtwar Police compiled a comprehensive dossier, and with the approval of the relevant authorities, he was detained under the PSA and is currently held at Central Jail Kotbhalwal, Jammu.

The second individual, Arshad Hussain, son of Abdul Wahid Sheikh from Guriyan, Kishtwar, is known for his repeated criminal behavior, particularly burglary. Despite being involved in numerous theft incidents and receiving multiple warnings, he persisted in his illegal activities, instilling fear among the local populace. On the directive of the District Magistrate of Kishtwar, he was also detained under the PSA and is now in District Jail Kathua.

Detention orders for both individuals were issued by the District Magistrate of Kishtwar, based on detailed reports submitted by the police.

SSP Naresh Singh reaffirmed the Kishtwar Police's dedication to ensuring peace and stability in the area. He stated that strict measures will be enforced against those engaging in criminal and anti-national conduct, ensuring that law and order in the district remains intact.
