Kamal Haasan's Views on Hindi Imposition
Recently, Kamal Haasan expressed his views regarding the imposition of Hindi in various states, stating, “We will learn without imposition. Avoid forcing it, as education should be accessible without obstacles.”
He highlighted that the resistance to Hindi imposition is not limited to southern states, asserting, “I support Punjab, Karnataka, and Andhra. This issue extends beyond just one region.”
Haasan articulated the frustrations of non-Hindi speakers, questioning, “When you enforce Hindi and suggest that jobs are inaccessible without it, it raises concerns about promises made and the status of my language among the 22 official languages.”
Promotion and OTT Release Strategy
The Thug Life team previously promoted the film in Delhi, where Kamal Haasan discussed the decision to maintain an eight-week gap before its OTT release. Many in the industry have noted the impact of OTT platforms on traditional cinema, and Haasan mentioned that the team requested this window to benefit both their film and others.
He explained, “This was not a negotiation but a request. We aimed for collaboration between the production company and the OTT platform. If successful, it could streamline operations for both sectors.”
