IndiGo Flight Encounters Turbulence Due to Duststorm, Safely Lands in Delhi

Turbulence Encountered During Flight
Passengers aboard IndiGo flight 6E 6313, traveling from Raipur to Delhi, faced a distressing situation as the aircraft hit turbulence caused by a duststorm. Just as the plane was preparing to land at Delhi airport, the pilot had to ascend again to ensure safety.
Wind Speeds Reached 80 km/h
After circling in the air for a while, the aircraft successfully landed at Delhi airport. The pilot informed the passengers that wind speeds had reached up to 80 km/h, prompting him to abort the landing approach until conditions improved.
Weather Conditions in Delhi
On the same day, Delhi experienced rainfall accompanied by strong winds, particularly in the southern regions. This weather was attributed to a cluster of clouds moving from the east-southeast, as reported by the Meteorological Department.
Rain Provides Relief from Heat
The rain brought a welcome break from the sweltering heat, with temperatures in the national capital exceeding 39°C earlier in the day. The Safdarjung area recorded a high of 39.7°C, while Ayanagar, Lodhi Road, and Palam reported temperatures of 39.5°C, 39.4°C, and 39.1°C, respectively.
Thunderstorm Warnings Issued
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls over the next two days, specifically on June 2 and 3, affecting at least eight districts, including South, South East, and New Delhi. Winds could potentially reach speeds of 80 km/h. Additionally, advisories have been issued for the South West, West, and North West districts regarding light rains and thunderstorms.
