A devastating mass shooting occurred at a school in Graz, Austria, resulting in the deaths of at least ten individuals, including students and staff members. The shooter, who was identified as a student, also took his own life during the incident.
The tragic event unfolded at the BORG Dreierschützengasse high school. Following the alarming reports, special Cobra units were dispatched to the scene after authorities received an emergency call at 10 am local time.
According to Graz Police spokesperson Sabri Yorgun, efforts were underway to assess the situation thoroughly. Emergency services, including a helicopter, were deployed to assist at the site.
By 11:30 am local time, police announced via social media that the school had been evacuated, and all individuals were relocated to a secure area. Authorities confirmed that the situation was now 'secured' and that there was no ongoing threat.
Graz, the capital of Austria's Styria province, has a population of approximately 300,000 residents.
