580 CAPF Companies Deployed for Enhanced Security During Amarnath Yatra 2025

Security Preparations for Amarnath Yatra
To ensure safety during the Amarnath Yatra in 2025, the Central Government has requested the deployment of 580 companies from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), which will amount to approximately 42,000 personnel on the ground for the annual pilgrimage.
As per official sources, 424 companies are being relocated to the union territory to secure the pilgrimage route. These companies are part of Operation Sindoor and will be moved to the UT to enhance security measures.
The Union Home Ministry has instructed CAPF forces to swiftly position themselves in the union territory. A senior official mentioned, “The ministry has decided to deploy around 580 CAPF companies for this year's Amarnath Yatra, including about 150-160 units already stationed in the UT.”
The deployment will consist of personnel from five CAPFs: CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB, with each company comprising approximately 70-75 members.

The heightened security measures are a response to a significant terror attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the loss of around 26 lives. Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to review the security protocols for the pilgrimage during his upcoming visit to Jammu.
Amarnath Yatra Schedule
Amarnath Yatra To Start July 3
The Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to commence on July 3 and will run until August 9, 2025. This pilgrimage will span 38 days and will conclude at the holy cave, located at an elevation of 3,880 meters, which houses the naturally formed ice-shivling.
Participants can opt for the traditional 48km route from Pahalgam in Anantnag district or the shorter, steeper 14km path from Baltal in Ganderbal district.
