IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Ranchi After Bird Strike

Emergency Landing at Birsa Munda Airport
An IndiGo flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi on Monday due to a bird strike. The aircraft was carrying 175 passengers, as reported by an official.
Safe Landing Achieved
The official confirmed that the Airbus A320 landed without incident despite sustaining some damage.
According to the airport director, R R Maurya, the flight encountered the bird strike while flying at an altitude of 3,000 to 4,000 feet, approximately 10 to 12 nautical miles from Ranchi. The flight was en route from Patna to Ranchi when the pilot opted for an emergency landing.
Previous Turbulence Encountered
Earlier, on June 1, another IndiGo flight traveling from Raipur to Delhi faced turbulence due to a dust storm, which forced the pilot to ascend again just before landing.
Flight 6E 6313 successfully landed at Delhi after circling in the air multiple times, with footage of the event gaining traction on social media.
High Wind Speeds Recorded
The pilot reported wind speeds reaching up to 80 km/h, leading to a decision to abort the landing until conditions improved.
On Sunday, the national capital experienced rainfall and strong winds in its southern regions, attributed to a cloud cluster moving east-southeast, according to the Meteorological Department. This rain provided a welcome break from the heat, with temperatures exceeding 39°C earlier that day.
