Air India Flight AI 171 Crashes Shortly After Takeoff

An Air India aircraft met with an accident near the Meghani Nagar area close to Ahmedabad Airport on Thursday around 2 PM. Reports indicate that the flight was headed to London, carrying 242 passengers.


Thick plumes of black smoke were visible from a distance at the crash site. Emergency services and fire brigades have arrived, and efforts for rescue and relief are currently in progress.


According to a spokesperson from SVPIA, "Flight AI 171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick experienced a crash shortly after takeoff, outside the airport. Consequently, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is not operational at this time. All flight activities have been temporarily halted until further notice. Passengers are encouraged to check with their airlines for the latest updates before heading to the airport.
