The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which was en route to London, tragically crashed into a hostel complex shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, resulting in the deaths of 241 individuals, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
A UK expert who visited the crash site remarked, "We might be able to provide more insights later... What we observed is consistent with what you can see here." Meanwhile, the cremation of Vijay Rupani is scheduled for later today in Rajkot, where he will be honored with full state ceremonies.
The Tricolour is being prepared to cover his remains at the Civil Hospital mortuary, and approximately 2,000 kilograms of flowers will adorn the hearse transporting the former Chief Minister's body.
As the identification process progresses, officials have assured that every body will be treated with utmost respect and dignity. The crash resulted in 241 fatalities out of the 242 individuals on board, which included 230 passengers and 12 crew members. The sole survivor, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British national of Indian descent, is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries.
Additionally, at least 33 individuals, including local residents and MBBS students, lost their lives when the aircraft struck the doctor's hostel during the incident.
