Monsoon Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a significant rainfall warning, forecasting extremely heavy downpours across various states in the upcoming week. Intense rainfall is particularly expected in Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathawada from June 22 to June 27, 2025. Furthermore, the weather agency indicated that heavy to very heavy rain is anticipated to persist in Northeast India over the next week.

According to the latest update from IMD, the southwest monsoon is making swift progress towards the remaining regions of the North Arabian Sea, parts of Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh within the next two days. The department also noted that conditions are now favorable for further advancement into the remaining areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi simultaneously.

Following an 18-day break from the monsoon between May 29 and June 16, regions experiencing relief from the heatwave include the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. However, IMD cautions that the ongoing heavy rains in these areas could result in significant traffic disruptions and waterlogging from June 22 to 27.
