In a conversation with a media outlet, Agnihotri elaborated on the reasons for the title change, stating, “The primary reason is that the film focuses on Bengal. Initially, we intended to create a two-part series, with one film titled Delhi Files and the other reflecting the Bengal chapter.”
He continued, “However, many viewers expressed their desire for the title to be The Bengal Files. After conducting a poll where 99 participants supported the change, I realized it was best to adapt. Now, it aligns better with the film's content.”
Agnihotri also mentioned that the sequel will likely undergo a title change as well, saying, “We will need to rename the second part too, but that will be addressed after the first chapter's release.”
The Bengal Files: Right to Life is anticipated to explore sensitive historical and political issues, including the Hindu genocide and the political ramifications of decisions made in 1940s Bengal.
Directed by Agnihotri and co-produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi, the film features prominent actors such as Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and Govind Namdev. It is set to hit theaters on September 5, 2025.
