Vicky Kaushal's Potential Role as Guru Dutt

Vicky Kaushal is reportedly in preliminary talks to take on the role of the legendary Indian filmmaker and actor Guru Dutt in a forthcoming biopic. As per a report, Kaushal is considered a leading candidate for this significant portrayal, given Guru Dutt's iconic status in Indian cinema, known for masterpieces like Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool, and Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam.

The biopic is being produced by Ultra Media & Entertainment Group, which owns the rights to Guru Dutt's extensive film catalog. The company is also looking into creating web adaptations of some of his classic works. Rajat Agrawal, the COO and Director of Ultra, shared insights about the project, stating, “Biopics present unique challenges as they must reflect the greatness and accomplishments of an individual. We are eager to partner with producers and a contemporary director who admires Guru Dutt to explore the project's potential.”

Agrawal further revealed that discussions are ongoing with two renowned directors regarding both a web series adaptation and a biopic focused on Dutt's life. He emphasized the involvement of Dutt's family in the project, saying, “I have engaged with two highly respected directors interested in transforming his films into web series and also creating a film about his life. Once we finalize details, we will provide more information. We are in contact with his family members.”

When asked about the actor suitable for such a multifaceted role, Agrawal remarked, “It's challenging to pinpoint a single actor, but I believe Vicky Kaushal has the emotional range to embody Guru Dutt.”

In addition to this potential role, Kaushal is preparing for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's grand period drama Love & War, where he stars alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. However, the production faced setbacks due to severe rainfall in Mumbai, which led to flooding on set and damaged equipment, causing delays in a crucial outdoor scene.
