Sunil Gavaskar Raises Concerns Over PBKS Recovery Before IPL 2025 Final

Sunil Gavaskar's Insights on PBKS

Former Indian cricketing icon Sunil Gavaskar has expressed concerns regarding the Punjab Kings' readiness for the IPL 2025 final against RCB, scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, in Ahmedabad. He noted that the team might struggle to recover adequately following their narrow win over the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2. Gavaskar emphasized that competing shortly after an intense match could hinder player recovery.

In an interview, Gavaskar stated, "This certainly plays a role. For the Punjab Kings, having only a day's rest before the final, especially after a late finish against the Mumbai Indians, limits their recovery time. While the match starts at 7:30 PM, the body requires ample rest after such exertion."

He further pointed out, "The Bengaluru team has enjoyed four days off, which means they will likely be in a better mental and physical state than the Punjab squad as they prepare for the match."

PBKS' Performance in IPL 2025

The Punjab Kings have demonstrated commendable performance in IPL 2025, securing 9 victories, suffering 4 losses, and recording 1 no-result out of 14 matches. They are set to clash with RCB in the final for the championship this season. With a total of 19 points, they are positioned favorably near the top of the points table. Their impressive efforts throughout the tournament have resulted in a net run rate (NRR) of 0.372, enhancing their chances of clinching the title.
