Exploring the Dynamic Between Actors

In Kankhajura, how do you and Roshan Mathew complement each other in your performances?

Over time, I've come to understand that in a narrative featuring just two actors, it's crucial for both to feel secure in their roles. If not, the dynamics can become quite challenging. Fortunately, my experience was positive. Roshan is very confident in his abilities, which made our interactions in each scene feel natural. The foundation of our relationship was built on this mutual respect, and we've grown to share much more than just our roles as actors.

Delving into a Complex Character

Was it challenging to embody such a morally ambiguous character?

Kankhajura allowed me to portray Max, a character with significant complexity. Our director, Chandan Arora, had a clear vision from the beginning regarding Max's layers; he has invested considerable time in developing this character, more than we actors have. I simply adhered to his creative direction.

What is your perspective on Max?

Max is driven, willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals, and he seizes every opportunity that comes his way. His determination knows no bounds.

Do you consider the OTT landscape beneficial for actors like yourself?

The rise of OTT platforms has indeed been advantageous. The landscape has shifted dramatically in the past two years, with creators recognizing that mediocrity is no longer acceptable. To engage audiences, one must present something unique; they are unforgiving in their expectations.

Avoiding Influences from Original Works

Did you watch the original Israeli series Magpie?

I intentionally chose not to view the original series to avoid having preconceived notions. Sometimes, starting fresh is beneficial.

Transitioning from a Dark Role

Was it difficult to detach from such a dark character?

After years of experience, transitioning out of a character isn't particularly challenging for me. A few deep breaths and a glance at my phone usually do the trick.
