It's astonishing to think that Mithun Chakraborty has reached the age of 75! His vibrant spirit seems to defy time itself.

Responding modestly to accolades, Mithun states, “I have never subscribed to the idea of stardom or acted like a celebrity. I don’t know how to carry myself as a star. I have always been one among the masses, and I remain so. For me, cinema is a way to connect with the audience.”

The actor, who earned a National Award for his debut in Mrigaya, prefers not to dwell on the past. “I’ve been part of countless films, some of which have endured through the years while others have faded. Each of my films holds value for me. However, if I must highlight a few, I would mention Mrinal Sen’s Mrigaya, followed by Disco Dancer, which gained immense popularity even in Russia, and Hum Paanch, where I stood out among many prominent stars.”

Mithun has never shied away from competition. “I don’t worry about what others are doing. I believe that if producers and directors want me, they will reach out. I don’t mean to sound conceited, but Mithun Chakraborty is one of a kind. There are many talented actors, but none like me.”

When asked about his future aspirations, Mithun replies, “I’ve never made plans. I didn’t set out to become an actor, nor did I expect to have such a long career. I’ve witnessed numerous trends come and go. Thanks to God’s grace, I have the love of fans across generations. When young people recognize and respect me, showering me with affection, I feel my life has been fulfilling.”

Any specific wishes? “I simply wish for the safety and happiness of my family, my wife, and my children. I also hope for an end to random deaths.”
