How to Play NYT Connections

Players are presented with a grid of words and must identify the hidden connections among them. Consider synonyms, antonyms, and word families to solve the puzzle. If you encounter difficulties, hints are available within the game. You can also track your daily progress and challenge friends to see who can solve the most puzzles.

A new puzzle is released daily at midnight, accessible via the NYT website or app. The objective is to organize 16 words into four groups of four based on their connections. Groups may include clickable items or names of study participants.

Each puzzle has a single solution, so be cautious of words that may fit into multiple categories. You can rearrange words to discover potential connections.

The groups are color-coded, with yellow typically being the easiest, blue and green in the middle, and purple often the most challenging, often involving wordplay.

Select four words that you believe belong together and click ‘Submit’. Incorrect guesses result in a loss of life, while nearing a correct group may prompt a message indicating you're close to success. If you make four mistakes, the game ends.
