Boman Irani Shares His Journey Overcoming Dyslexia

Boman Irani's Inspiring Journey with Dyslexia
Bollywood star Boman Irani, celebrated for his performances in films like 'Munna Bhai MBBS', '3 Idiots', and 'Khosla Ka Ghosla', has openly discussed his childhood battles with dyslexia. He emphasized that this learning disorder does not define his identity today.
In an honest discussion, Irani highlighted the uniqueness of every individual, noting that no two people share identical DNA, which inherently makes everyone different. He encouraged individuals to leverage their 'abilities or disabilities' to their advantage and concentrate on their strengths.
“No two human beings have the same DNA. Their structures vary, whether it’s dyslexia, different brain aptitudes, or various forms of autism. Everyone should utilize their strengths or disabilities to their benefit. I struggled with mathematics in school, but that doesn’t define me. What defines me is my ability to communicate, tell stories, and express myself,” Irani stated.
The actor admitted that while he finds numbers challenging and has no memory for arithmetic, he has a remarkable ability to recall film scenes from his childhood. He concluded by advising others to never feel inferior due to their differences.
“I have an excellent memory for certain things, but numbers? Zero memory. You can teach me arithmetic for hours, and I still won’t grasp it. Society may judge based on that, but I measure my worth by my own skills. At 11, I vividly remember a scene from a movie, perhaps due to my unique abilities. One should never feel inferior to anyone,” he added.
Reflecting on his diverse career, Irani reminisced about his memorable role as 'Kishen Khurana' in the 2006 film 'Khosla Ka Ghosla'. Initially, there were doubts about his suitability for the role of a Punjabi businessman, given his Parsi background from South Bombay.
“'Khosla Ka Ghosla' was a significant milestone for me as an actor. Many were skeptical about my ability to portray a Punjabi character, but I took it as a challenge. I worked tirelessly to prove them wrong, making it a special experience for me,” he shared.
Boman Irani is set to appear in the film 'Detective Sherdil', which is now streaming exclusively on Zee5. He will be joined by actors Diljit Dosanjh, Diana Penty, Ratna Pathak, Sumit Vyas, and others in this project.
