Cocktail 2: A New Chapter in Bollywood

The romantic comedy Cocktail, which debuted in 2012, continues to hold a special place in the hearts of Bollywood fans. Now, more than ten years later, a sequel is officially in the works. As reported by a leading entertainment source, producer Dinesh Vijan is collaborating with Luv Ranjan to breathe new life into the Cocktail franchise, introducing a fresh storyline and cast.

In the upcoming sequel, Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna will take on the main roles, creating a contemporary trio. This film marks the reunion of Shahid and Kriti after their successful project Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, while Rashmika's addition promises to bring an exciting new dynamic to the film.

Sources indicate that filming for Cocktail 2 is set to begin in August 2025. The production team plans to shoot extensively in India and various picturesque locations across Europe, with the aim to complete filming by January 2026. The film is expected to hit theaters in the latter half of 2026.

While the original was directed by Homi Adajania and co-written by Imtiaz Ali, the sequel will see Adajania return as director. Luv Ranjan will take on the writing duties, infusing his unique blend of humor, emotion, and relationship drama into the script. Given Ranjan's recent successes in similar genres, he is well-suited to craft the narrative for Cocktail 2.

• On the professional front, Shahid is currently involved in Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming project Arjun Ustara (tentative title), while Kriti is finalizing Aanand L Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein alongside Dhanush. Rashmika is also busy with Thama, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana.

The original Cocktail starred Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan, and Diana Penty, weaving a complex tale of love, friendship, and self-discovery, and is celebrated for its modern take on relationships and emotional intricacies.

Directed by Homi Adajania and produced by Maddock Films, the film centers around three distinct characters whose lives intersect in surprising ways. Veronica, portrayed by Deepika Padukone, is a free-spirited party girl whose chaotic emotional life changes when she befriends the reserved and traditional Meera, played by Diana Penty, and both fall for the same man, Gautam, played by Saif Ali Khan.

The film was re-released in theaters on May 30, 2025.
