Aamir Khan's Upcoming Film Cleared for Release

Aamir Khan is set to make a much-anticipated comeback with his film Sitaare Zameen Par, which serves as a spiritual sequel to the beloved 2007 movie Taare Zameen Par. This new project, which centers around children with special needs and features Aamir in the role of a basketball coach, recently encountered an unexpected challenge prior to its release.

However, after some uncertainty, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially approved the film, confirming its theatrical debut on June 20, 2025.

While neither party has publicly commented on the specifics of the disagreement, sources indicate that the issue has now been resolved.

Reports suggest that the CBFC had requested two cuts from the film, which Aamir initially resisted, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the film's creative vision. A source from a prominent Bollywood outlet stated, 'The CBFC requested two cuts. Aamir Khan believes the film should be released without these alterations. He and director R.S. Prasanna have invested significant thought into the film. Certain scenes and dialogues, when viewed in context, are entirely appropriate.'

Aamir was anticipated to meet with the CBFC Examining Committee to discuss the matter further. The source added, 'Since Aamir Khan did not agree to the cuts, the censor certificate was not granted to Sitaare Zameen Par. Aamir plans to meet the CBFC Examining Committee again on Monday to present his perspective. It is hoped that a resolution will be reached, allowing the CBFC to approve the film by June 16. Once this is accomplished, advance ticket sales can commence, as cinemas are prohibited from selling tickets without a censor certificate.'

Directed by R.S. Prasanna and featuring Genelia Deshmukh, the film is a remake of the Spanish movie Champions (2018).
