Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par Faces CBFC Edits Ahead of Release

Aamir Khan's Anticipated Film Faces Challenges
Aamir Khan is preparing for his eagerly awaited comeback with the film Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to his acclaimed 2007 movie Taare Zameen Par. This new project, which highlights the lives of specially abled children and features Aamir as a basketball coach, has encountered an unexpected obstacle prior to its release.
Before its debut, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) requested certain cuts, which Aamir initially resisted, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the film's creative vision. Nevertheless, the CBFC ultimately granted official clearance for the film.
As reported by a Media House, the proposed edits included changing the term “Business Woman” to “Business Person,” altering “Michael Jackson” to “Lovebirds,” removing the word “Kamal” (lotus) from a scene, replacing the original disclaimer with a new one featuring a voiceover, and adding a quote from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the disclaimer.
Directed by RS Prasanna, the film also features Genelia D’Souza and introduces ten new actors portraying specially abled roles, serving as a remake of the Spanish film Campeones.
Scheduled for release on June 20, the film has experienced a sluggish start at the box office, with disappointing advance ticket sales.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the advance bookings for the film on its first day reached just over Rs 1 crore by Thursday morning, a mere 24 hours before its theatrical launch. This figure is significantly lower compared to Aamir's previous film Laal Singh Chaddha, which achieved Rs 5.52 crore in advance bookings, despite its own lackluster box office performance.
