Aamir Khan Announces New Superhero Film with Tamil Director Lokesh Kanagaraj
Aamir Khan's Exciting New Project
Aamir Khan, currently preparing for the release of his film 'Sitaare Zameen Par', has officially announced his next venture. In a recent interview, he disclosed that he will collaborate with the acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for this upcoming project. Lokesh is known for his work with prominent stars such as Kamal Haasan, Thalapathy Vijay, Rajinikanth, and Karthi.
During his conversation with a media outlet, Aamir stated, "Lokesh and I are developing a superhero film. It will be a large-scale action movie, set to commence in the latter half of next year." He also addressed rumors regarding other projects, clarifying, "The talk about 'PK 2' is unfounded. I am working on a biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke, alongside Raju."
Aamir further expressed his long-standing aspiration to create a film based on the Mahabharata, a dream he has nurtured for 25 years. He remarked, "Creating 'Mahabharata' transcends filmmaking; it’s a commitment. I am making efforts, but I am uncertain if I can realize this dream. Until I establish a foundational plan, I cannot provide definitive answers. I am determined to begin work on it soon."
In the meantime, Aamir is engaged in the production of 'Sitaare Zameen Par', which is a remake of the 2018 Spanish film 'Champions'.
Reports indicate that Aamir Khan plans to forgo an OTT release for 'Sitaare Zameen Par', opting instead for a pay-per-view model. This approach requires viewers to pay specifically for the film they wish to watch, eliminating the need for an OTT subscription. This method mirrors the traditional cinema experience, allowing producers to benefit more significantly.
As reported by a media source, Aamir Khan prefers this release strategy for 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. A source mentioned, "Aamir is reluctant to release his films on streaming platforms immediately after their theatrical run, as it may deter audiences from enjoying films in cinemas. This is also why the poster for 'Sitaare Zameen Par' does not feature any streaming logos."
The film is set to hit theaters on June 20, 2025.
