IndiGo Airlines Announces Expansion with 10 New International Routes

IndiGo's Global Expansion Plans
IndiGo Airlines, India's budget carrier, has revealed plans to introduce 10 new international routes, as announced on Friday. The airline aims to broaden its global footprint by including cities like London and Athens, with a goal of adding between 40 to 50 new destinations by the financial year 2025.
Targeting Untapped International Markets
Travelers will soon enjoy direct flights from Mumbai to various locations, including Amsterdam, Manchester, and Siem Reap. This expansion is part of IndiGo's strategy to penetrate underserved international markets.
The airline's latest move reflects its proactive approach to meet the rising demand for international air travel.
The newly added destinations include Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Athens, Siem Reap, along with four cities in Central Asia.
Investment in Maintenance Infrastructure
In addition, IndiGo has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL) to establish its own Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) infrastructure.
As per the agreement, approximately 31 acres of land at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru will be allocated to IndiGo for the development of MRO facilities to support its growing fleet.
Strategic Collaboration for Aviation Growth
Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, stated, "Partnering with BIAL emphasizes our mutual commitment to foster long-term growth in Bengaluru's aviation sector and enhance its reputation as one of India's premier international hubs. This collaboration is a crucial step towards establishing a significant global presence for both IndiGo and India."
Hari Marar, MD & CEO of BIAL, added, "Our longstanding relationship with IndiGo has been fruitful, and this partnership further solidifies our connection with the airline."
IndiGo is poised to be the first airline to commence operations at both the Navi Mumbai International Airport and the Noida International Airport in Jewar.
