Rajat Patidar's Stellar Performance in IPL Playoffs

Rajat Patidar had another unforgettable night during the IPL playoffs. From his remarkable innings against Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 Eliminator to his explosive performance against Gujarat Titans in the 2026 Qualifier 1, Patidar is quickly becoming a playoff legend. Just like in 2022, he showcased his batting prowess at the HPCA Stadium, turning the match in favor of his team by the end of the first innings. His unbeaten 93 runs led Bengaluru to a commanding victory by 92 runs.

Initially scoring 21 runs off 13 balls, Patidar then accelerated, hitting 72 runs off the next 20 balls, helping RCB set the highest score in IPL playoffs at 254/4. Notably, he hit 10 sixes in IPL 2026, establishing a T20 world record for the most sixes by a captain in a single tournament, bringing his total to 41 sixes. Previously, this record belonged to Ryan Parag, who hit 40 sixes while leading Assam to the semifinals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023/24.


The previous IPL record was held by Shreyas Iyer, who hit 39 sixes while captaining Punjab Kings to the 2025 final. In international cricket, the record is held by Germany's captain Musaddiq Ahmed, who hit 26 sixes in a domestic T20 series against Austria earlier this month.
