Punjab Kings Reaches IPL Final Amid Controversy
Punjab Kings Secures IPL Final Spot
Punjab Kings (PBKS) made a remarkable entry into their first IPL final in over ten years, driven by a stellar performance from captain Shreyas Iyer during a tense chase against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 on Sunday evening. While the thrilling win captured the spotlight, a heated exchange between Iyer and teammate Shashank Singh post-match also drew significant attention.
Facing a challenging target of 204 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, PBKS found themselves in a tricky situation midway through their innings. However, Iyer rose to the occasion, delivering an impressive unbeaten 87 runs off just 41 balls, which included five fours and eight sixes.
His outstanding performance led Punjab to achieve the highest successful run chase in IPL history against Mumbai Indians, marking their long-awaited return to the finals, where they will compete against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Nevertheless, the celebration was briefly overshadowed by a moment of tension, as a post-match video emerged showing Iyer visibly upset with Shashank Singh. The viral clip depicted the PBKS captain in a heated discussion, seemingly disregarding a handshake from his teammate.
