On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, conveyed warm wishes to the Muslim community, highlighting the festival's role in promoting peace and unity. After attending prayers at the esteemed Dargah Hazratbal in Srinagar, he expressed optimism that this Eid would bring positive changes for Muslims both in India and globally.

Concerns Over Prayer Restrictions

Accompanied by Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the President of the National Conference, and family members, Abdullah expressed his disappointment regarding the ongoing restrictions that hindered communal prayers at the historic Jama Masjid in Srinagar. He stated, "It saddens me that once again, permission was not granted for prayers at the iconic Jama Masjid. I am unsure of the reasons behind these decisions, but we must learn to trust our people."

Community Trust and Peaceful Protests

Abdullah emphasized the significance of community trust, referencing the peaceful protests by the public following a recent terrorist incident in Pahalgam. He remarked, "These are the same individuals who peacefully expressed their outrage. One day, the government will need to trust its citizens."

A Call for Dialogue

The Chief Minister urged the government to rethink its position on allowing congregational prayers at the historic mosque, stressing the importance of dialogue and building trust with the community.

Farooq Abdullah's Eid Wishes

In a similar vein, Farooq Abdullah also participated in the Eid al-Adha prayers at Hazratbal Dargah, extending his wishes for a joyful Eid Mubarak to all as he left the premises.
