Trump Acknowledges Diplomatic Efforts in India-Pakistan Conflict Resolution
Trump's Remarks on India-Pakistan Relations
In a recent media interaction at the White House, US President Donald Trump stepped back from claiming credit for averting a potential conflict between India and Pakistan. His comments highlighted the diplomatic efforts that contributed to peace.
‘Two Intelligent Leaders Prevented War’
Trump remarked that the two nuclear nations, represented by 'two smart individuals,' chose to avoid escalating tensions into war.
When asked about his meeting with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, Trump stated, “The purpose of his visit was to prevent war and to conclude hostilities. I appreciate Prime Minister Modi, who had just departed. We are negotiating a trade agreement involving India and Pakistan. Both leaders were present, and I had met Modi a few weeks prior. It was a decision made by two very intelligent leaders to refrain from continuing the conflict, which could have had nuclear implications.”
Concerns Over Israel-Iran Tensions
Trump also voiced his worries regarding the rising tensions between Israel and Iran, acknowledging that while he has a strategy, the results remain unpredictable.
He refrained from confirming whether he would authorize military action against Iran, stating, “I have a plan for everything… anything could happen.”
Expressing disappointment over Iran's refusal to engage in negotiations, Trump remarked, “They should have accepted the deal I proposed.” He noted that Iran had expressed interest in meeting at the White House, yet his comments reflected uncertainty about future developments.
Highlighting the Crisis
Trump reflected on previous negotiations, lamenting Iran's lost chance to finalize an agreement, while suggesting that renewed discussions might be on the horizon. He emphasized the seriousness of the ongoing crisis, mentioning continuous dialogues and the wider implications of the conflict.
‘They Missed Their Chance’
“I have a plan for everything, but we will see what unfolds. They should have made the deal. I had an excellent proposal for them,” Trump stated, referring to earlier discussions with Iran.
He added, “We deliberated for 60 days, but ultimately, they opted out, and now they regret it. It’s late for them to come back, but they are eager to meet and visit the White House. I might consider it… Anything could happen…”
