Family Mourns Loss After Plane Crash

Rupal Patel, aged 45, was among the 241 individuals who tragically lost their lives in the recent plane crash in Ahmedabad. She had traveled from London to her maternal home in Uttarsanda village, Nadiad, for medical treatment. Rupal leaves behind her husband and three children. Her brother, Pawan Patel, recounted that he had gone to the airport to bid her farewell for her flight back to London, where she had resided with her family for the past 15 years.


Brother Remembers Final Moments with Rupal

Pawan Patel shared the heartbreaking details of his last interaction with Rupal. He mentioned that she had come to Nadiad for medical care and was scheduled to return to London. After dropping her off, he received the devastating news of the crash shortly after arriving home. He recalled assisting her with her luggage due to her health issues and embraced her, urging her to take care of herself.


Sister-in-Law Expresses Grief

Heena Patel, Rupal's sister-in-law, expressed her sorrow, stating, "My sister-in-law has perished in this tragedy. She had come to India for medical treatment and stayed with us during her visit."


Details of the Crash

The Boeing 787-8, operating as Air India flight 171, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, resulting in the loss of all 241 passengers and crew members on board. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has intensified its efforts at the crash site, with Inspector Vinay Kumar reporting that 81 bodies have been recovered so far, and seven teams have been deployed to manage the emergency response.


Investigation Underway

In the wake of this tragic incident, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has initiated a formal investigation into the crash of Air India flight 171, as confirmed by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu. The AAIB is responsible for investigating aircraft accidents in India.
