Sunjay Kapur, Former Husband of Karisma Kapoor, Passes Away at 53
Tragic Demise of Sunjay Kapur
Sunjay Kapur, a well-known entrepreneur and polo player, has sadly passed away at the age of 53. The unfortunate incident took place during a polo match in London on Thursday.
According to reports, Sunjay accidentally swallowed a bee while playing. Witnesses recalled hearing him say, 'I have swallowed something,' which turned out to be his last words. The bee's sting caused him to suffocate, leading to a heart attack shortly after.
Suhel Seth, a close friend and business partner, confirmed to a news agency that Sunjay died from a heart attack following the bee incident during the match.
Sunjay was the former chairman of Sona Comstar, a prominent automobile manufacturing firm. The company released a statement acknowledging his death due to a heart attack but did not elaborate further.
Although he was often recognized for his past marriage to actress Karisma Kapoor, Sunjay was also a respected businessman and passionate polo player. He was known to have connections with high-profile individuals, including Prince William, and frequently attended elite events and polo tournaments globally.
His final rites are expected to occur in Delhi, but there may be delays due to his U.S. citizenship. His father-in-law, Ashok Sachdev, mentioned that the postmortem is in progress, and once the necessary paperwork is completed, Sunjay's body will be transported to India for the last rites.
Sunjay married Karisma Kapoor in 2003, and they have two children: a daughter named Samaira, born in 2005, and a son named Kiaan, born in 2011. The couple divorced in 2016, with Karisma raising their children as a single parent.
Later, Sunjay wed model and entrepreneur Priya Sachdev after a five-year courtship, and they had a son named Azarias Kapur.
In the wake of his passing, several close friends from the Kapoor family, including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Malaika Arora, and Amrita Arora, visited Karisma at her home in Mumbai to offer their condolences and support during this challenging time.
