Rinku Singh's Engagement with Priya Saroj: A Journey from Controversy to Celebration
Engagement Announcement
Indian cricketer Rinku Singh recently got engaged to Priya Saroj, a Member of Parliament from the Samajwadi Party, in a ceremony held in Lucknow. The star player of Kolkata Knight Riders is set to marry later this year. Rinku's cricketing journey has been quite remarkable, especially after he gained fame for hitting five consecutive sixes against Yash Dayal during a match against the Gujarat Titans in 2023. However, his path to success has not been without challenges.
Past Controversies
Before his recent achievements, Rinku Singh faced a significant setback when he was suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for three months in 2019. This suspension was a result of his participation in an unauthorized T20 tournament in Abu Dhabi without the necessary permissions. Consequently, he was also removed from the India A squad.
BCCI's Statement
According to the BCCI's official statement, "A player registered with the Board is not permitted to participate in any overseas tournaments without prior approval. Therefore, Mr. Rinku Singh has been suspended for three months starting June 1, 2019." The board further clarified that Singh's failure to seek permission constituted a direct violation of their regulations.
Rinku's IPL Career
Rinku began his IPL career with the Punjab Kings but later became a key player in the Kolkata Knight Riders' middle order. His statistics reflect his talent, having played in two ODIs where he scored 55 runs with an average of 27.50. In the 2025 IPL Auction, KKR acquired Rinku Singh for ₹13 crore. In his last IPL match against SRH on May 5, 2025, he scored 9 runs off 6 balls.
