Nitin Gadkari Denounces False Reports on Two-Wheeler Toll Tax
Union Minister Addresses Media Misrepresentation
Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, has criticized certain media outlets for disseminating inaccurate information regarding the imposition of toll taxes on two-wheeler vehicles. He emphasized that such misleading reports should not be propagated.
Gadkari stated, "There are media houses that are spreading false information about toll taxes on two-wheelers. No decision regarding this has been made. The exemption from tolls for two-wheelers will remain intact. Creating sensationalism by spreading unverified news is not indicative of responsible journalism, and I strongly condemn this behavior."
NHAI Clarifies the Situation
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) also dismissed these claims, asserting that there are no proposals under consideration for such a toll. The NHAI took to social media to clarify, stating, "Certain media reports suggest that the Government of India intends to impose user fees on two-wheelers. We would like to clarify that no such proposal is currently being considered, and there are no plans to introduce toll charges for two-wheelers."
