Significant Drug Seizure at Mumbai Airport

Mumbai: In a significant operation, the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport apprehended a foreign national who was attempting to smuggle a large quantity of cocaine into India. The authorities acted on specific intelligence, leading them to scrutinize the individual closely.


Upon conducting a personal search, officials uncovered four suspicious packets containing white powder cleverly hidden within an ortho waist belt and calf supporters worn by the suspect. A field test confirmed that the substance was cocaine, with the total weight of the seized drugs amounting to 5,194 grams, valued at approximately ₹51.94 crore in the illicit market.



The suspect has been taken into custody under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985. Officials have indicated that investigations are ongoing to uncover the larger smuggling network and identify any associated syndicates.
