Police Reenactment of Raja Raghuvanshi's Murder

In a dramatic development, law enforcement officials today reenacted the brutal murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, which occurred on May 23, at the same location and time, between 1:18 PM and 2:00 PM, near the selfie point opposite the WEI SAWDONG parking area. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by Shillong SP Vivek, brought Sonam Raghuvanshi along with the three alleged murderers to the scene to recreate the events of that fateful day.

The reenactment mirrored the original incident, where Sonam had lured Raja to the selfie point under the guise of taking a photograph, only to conspire with the three accused to murder him. Following the crime, Raja's body was disposed of in a nearby ditch.

After the murder, Sonam transported one of the accused on her scooter for approximately 10 kilometers, while the other two escaped on a different scooter. During today's reenactment, police extracted Sonam from the vehicle precisely at 1:18 PM, the exact moment the crime took place.

SP Vivek disclosed several crucial details during the investigation at the crime scene. The suspects have admitted to their involvement, after which they were taken to the parking area where the scooter was initially located. They were shown the exact spot from where Raja had started the scooter, and a photograph was taken as evidence. The accused were also led to the location where Raja was killed.

Regarding the murder weapons, it was determined that two DAU weapons were utilized. One, which is orange, is currently with the police, while the other remains unaccounted for. During the reconstruction, the accused elaborated on how Vishal had attacked Raja. Medical examinations confirmed that Raja sustained two severe head injuries, indicating that both weapons were employed in the attack.

Raja's injuries clearly indicate the use of both weapons. Today's reenactment evoked painful memories of that tragic afternoon of May 23, possibly bringing back the horrific moment for Sonam as well.

Investigations revealed that Sonam was present at the scene when the suspects allegedly attacked Raja. As they assaulted him, Sonam fled as blood began to flow. Subsequently, they discarded Raja's body into the gorge. It was also disclosed that each of the three suspects struck Raja once.

Authorities have recovered two of the weapons used in the crime, and efforts are ongoing to locate the third. A senior police officer stated, 'We are also exploring potential financial motives and a possible love triangle. Sonam's family members will be questioned as part of the investigation.'
