Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder Case

Meghalaya honeymoon murder case: As time progresses, fresh insights and developments are surfacing in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder investigation. Sonam Raghuvanshi has been taken into custody regarding the death of her spouse, Raja Raghuvanshi, a businessman from Indore. Allegations suggest that she conspired with her partner, Raj Kushwaha, who allegedly hired three assassins to eliminate Raja. A recent lead has directed the police to a man named Sanjay Verma. Reports indicate that Sonam had contacted him over 100 times prior to her marriage.

On Wednesday, authorities disclosed a significant detail in the case. They revealed that the name 'Verma' was not the actual identity of the individual Sonam was communicating with; it was a pseudonym used by her boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha. This revelation has introduced another layer to the ongoing inquiry.

“We have found that Sonam made more than 100 calls to a Sanjay Verma before her marriage to Raja,” stated East Khasi Hills district SP Vivek Syiem. The police also noted that these calls persisted even after the wedding. “Our team is currently in Indore, questioning several individuals to determine if anyone had a motive for Raja's death,” he added. However, Sonam Raghuvanshi's brother, Govind, has claimed ignorance about anyone named Sanjay Verma.

Govind remarked, “I have no knowledge of Sanjay Verma. I came to show you all the places where Raj worked. Nothing has been seized from here. I am unaware of Sanjay. I learned today that his name is also being mentioned in this context.” According to the investigation, three hitmen were dispatched by Kushwaha to execute the brutal act in Sonam's presence on May 23.

Raja was brutally murdered last month in Sohra, East Khasi Hills district, during their honeymoon. All five suspects, including Sonam, have been apprehended. The police reconstructed the crime scene on Tuesday as part of their investigation.

About nine days following their lavish wedding, Sonam Raghuvanshi and her husband embarked on their honeymoon to Meghalaya. On May 23, both went missing in Sohra, a picturesque hill town approximately 65 km from Shillong. Subsequently, on June 2, Raja Raghuvanshi’s remains were discovered in a severely decomposed condition. The investigation revealed that after the murder, Sonam fled the state, traveling through Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh before ultimately arriving in Indore.
