Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder Case: Arrest of Sonam Raghuvanshi Marks Significant Progress
Major Breakthrough in Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder Investigation
In a significant development regarding the Meghalaya honeymoon couple case, police in Gazipur have apprehended Sonam Raghuvanshi. She faces allegations of orchestrating the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, by hiring assassins. Reports indicate that Sonam reached out to her brother to confirm her safety. She was located approximately two hours ago in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, prompting Indore police to head to Gazipur for her custody.
Meghalaya's Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, has acknowledged this breakthrough in the murder investigation, praising the state police's efforts. He revealed that three suspects have been detained, with ongoing operations to capture one remaining assailant.
On social media, CM Sangma stated, "In just seven days, the #meghalayapolice has made significant progress in the Raja murder case... Three assailants from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, a female suspect has surrendered, and efforts continue to apprehend one more suspect. Great job, #meghalayapolice."
Additionally, DGP I Nongrang reported that four individuals, including Raja's wife, have been arrested in connection with the murder. Allegations suggest that Sonam was involved in the crime during their honeymoon and had hired hitmen.
Raja and Sonam tied the knot on May 11 and embarked on their honeymoon on May 20. They were last seen together on May 23, with the family having their final conversation with them that afternoon. Their phones were switched off by evening. Tragically, Raja's body was discovered on June 2 in a gorge near Cherrapunji, while Sonam remained unaccounted for.
