Shocking Incident in Sirmaur District

Himachal Pradesh: A disturbing event has emerged from the Sirmaur district, where a teacher at a government school is accused of sexually harassing at least 24 female students. The situation came to light after the students reported their experiences to the sexual harassment committee. Reports indicate that the teacher has been placed in police custody for three days.

Students Report Harassment to Principal

Students from the 8th to 10th grades shared their unsettling experiences with the principal during a school event, detailing inappropriate behavior by their mathematics teacher. In their written complaint, they claimed that the teacher had touched them inappropriately. Alarmingly, the parents were initially unaware of the harassment their children faced from the trained graduate teacher. Upon learning of the situation, the parents expressed their outrage towards the school management and the teacher.

Legal Action and Suspension of the Teacher

A case has been filed against the accused under relevant sections, including the POCSO Act, leading to his arrest. The teacher has also been suspended from his position, and the Director of School Education has initiated a preliminary inquiry. A letter was sent to the Deputy Director of Elementary Education, instructing him to visit the government school to gather statements from both the teacher and the students. A week has been allocated for the submission of the inquiry report. The teacher was presented in a local court last Sunday and has been remanded to police custody for three days.
