Greater Noida West Roundabouts See Traffic Diversion Amid Jam Issues
Traffic Management Measures in Greater Noida West
Traffic management has been adjusted at several roundabouts along the 130-meter road in Greater Noida West. U-turns have been established on both sides of the roundabouts to facilitate vehicle movement. Currently, temporary barriers have been set up to close off these roundabouts, as stated by the Greater Noida Authority. They plan to install permanent barriers after the Kavad Yatra, which is expected to alleviate congestion problems.
At the Ek Murti roundabout, temporary barriers have been created using Noida Police barriers and iron grills tied with ropes. However, pedestrians frequently remove these barriers, allowing two-wheelers and e-rickshaws to pass through, which disrupts the diversion plan and leads to renewed traffic jams.
Traffic Diversion Implemented from Both Directions
The Greater Noida Authority has enacted traffic diversions from both directions at the roundabout. A section of the Iteda roundabout has been obstructed using broken streetlight poles, large stones, and iron barriers. The installation of permanent barriers is anticipated to provide relief from traffic congestion. Although temporary barriers have somewhat reduced the jams, the lack of permanent solutions means that the diversion is not entirely effective.
Complaint Filed on Chief Minister's Portal
Manish Kumar, a local resident, lodged a complaint on the Chief Minister's portal requesting the installation of permanent barriers to resolve the traffic issues at the roundabouts. In response, Narottam Singh, a Senior Manager at the Greater Noida Authority, mentioned that temporary barriers were put in place to ensure smoother traffic flow during the Kavad Yatra. The installation of permanent barriers will be evaluated after the event concludes.
