Diplomatic Relations Restored at G7 Summit
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney during the G7 Summit held in Alberta. This meeting marked a significant step towards resuming full diplomatic services, effectively resolving the tensions that arose following the assassination of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in 2023. Appointment of New High Commissioners
Following their discussions, India and Canada reached an agreement to appoint new high commissioners. Canadian PM Carney remarked, "We will move to appoint High Commissioners again." I fully expect the Prime Minister of India to be in attendance at the G7 in France next year."
